Contacts Help Sections - Search Contacts

The following steps will walk you through searching for an existing Contact.

  1. Make sure you are in the Contacts tab. If you are not, click the word Contacts which is in the Tabs at the top of the program.
  2. If you are in the Contacts tab, note the Navigation Pane in the left hand side of the program now shows a list of Groups.
  3. Also, in the Data Grid the Group's Contacts will be shown.
  4. In the Navigation Pane select a Group. If you have not created any Groups then click here for help on creating a new group.
  5. In the Data Grid select a Contact. If you have not created any Contacts then click here for help on creating a new contact.
  6. Click Search Contacts. This is located in the Ribbon Bar.
  7. A dialog box appears. You have two options.
    1. Simple Search - choose what criteria to search for (such as Email, Job Title and City), choose what comparison operator to use ( = which means equals, > which means greater than and != which means not equal to) and finally your search term. Then click Search.
    2. Advanced Search - choose what criteria to search for (such as Email, Job Title and City), choose what comparison operator to use ( = which means equals, > which means greater than and != which means not equal to) and finally your search term. Now you can do the same again, usaeful if you want to search 2 different criterias. Then click Search.
  8. If any Contacts are found they are shown in the Data Grid.
  9. Tip: if the Navigation Pane or Data Grid is focused on, you can use the arrow keys of your keyboard to move between Groups.
