Contacts Help Sections - Search Contacts
The following steps will walk you through searching for an existing Contact.
- Make sure you are in the Contacts tab. If you are not, click the word Contacts which is in the Tabs at the top of the program.
- If you are in the Contacts tab, note the Navigation Pane in the left hand side of the program now shows a list of Groups.
- Also, in the Data Grid the Group's Contacts will be shown.
- In the Navigation Pane select a Group. If you have not created any Groups then click here for help on creating a new group.
- In the Data Grid select a Contact. If you have not created any Contacts then click here for help on creating a new contact.
- Click Search Contacts. This is located in the Ribbon Bar.
- A dialog box appears. You have two options.
- Simple Search - choose what criteria to search for (such as Email, Job Title and City), choose what comparison operator to use ( = which means equals, > which means greater than and != which means not equal to) and finally your search term. Then click Search.
- Advanced Search - choose what criteria to search for (such as Email, Job Title and City), choose what comparison operator to use ( = which means equals, > which means greater than and != which means not equal to) and finally your search term. Now you can do the same again, usaeful if you want to search 2 different criterias. Then click Search.
- If any Contacts are found they are shown in the Data Grid.
- Tip: if the Navigation Pane or Data Grid is focused on, you can use the arrow keys of your keyboard to move between Groups.
